  • Notice of Apprenticeship Opportunity - Telecommunications (VDV)

    Applications for all programs are being done by appointment only. You can schedule by calling 419-666-8088 during normal business hours 7am to 4:30pm. If you schedule a time and are not feeling well the day of your appointment RE-SCHEDULE by calling 419-666-8088. 

    Program Selection Policy
    The Toledo Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (TEJATC) encourages all applicants to apply to all available programs. Upon being selected to a specific TEJATC program and accepting to either the Inside, Residential or Installer Technician program, the applicant's name will be removed from all other current selection lists and/or the application will be rescinded from the other TEJATC programs. This policy is necessary to keep continuity in the programs and the financial investment the TEJATC has in educating each apprentice. This policy will take effect August 11th, 2020.

    Applicants must be at least 17 years of age, be a high school graduate (or GED holder) and have successfully completed one (1) credit of algebra. (All minimum requirements must be turned in within 60 days of the date of application or the application will become invalid.) There is a $20.00 (twenty dollar) processing fee, payable by personal check, money order, Master Card or Visa. We have a NO CASH POLICY.

    The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or age. The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, part 30, and the equal employment opportunity regulations of the state of Ohio.


    Minimum Requirements
    1. Copy of Birth Certificate
    2. Official high school transcripts sent directly from the school/Official copy of GED Certificate and transcripts
    3. Proof of one credit of algebra successfully completed4. Submit a DD-214 if a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience

    (All minimum requirements must be turned in within 60 days of the date of application or the application will become invalid.)

     

    Aptitude Test
    Aptitude tests will be administered as needed with applicants receiving notification by email of the date, time and place for the aptitude testing.  The applicant must score a four (4) or higher on the ETA’s Aptitude Test to be considered qualified to receive an interview. 


    Interviewing
    Determining factors for monthly interviews are a candidate’s scholastic achievements and work experience. All qualified candidate’s results are statistically recorded and ranked. Qualified applicants will be notified by mail as to their interview date and time.

    Interview scores - from ratings of interviewers - from each interview session, will remain in active status for two years from interview date. The selection of apprentices will be made, by order of ranking, from the active pool of previously interviewed applicants.

    Individuals meeting requirements for Direct Interview Qualifications as listed in the Appendix A of the approved TEJATC Standards may choose to pay the processing fee, fill out the application, meet the 17  years of age requirement and submit undisputable and verifiable documenting evidence meeting one of the Direct Interview Qualification methods.


    Upon Selection
    If selected to participate in the apprenticeship, an applicant is required to pass a physical and drug test given by our physicians. An applicant cannot be placed to work without this medical release.
    There is a physical requirement of climbing and working from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts of various heights. Push, pull, crawl, crouch, and work in confined spaces such as attics, manholes, and crawlspaces, lift 25-to-50-pound objects on a consistent schedule, and use various hand and power assisted tools to install fixtures devices and electrical apparatus within commercial and industrial buildings.
    Applicants will be notified by email as to whether he/she has been selected for indenture into the Apprenticeship Program at that time. Therefore, it is important that you notify the TEJATC office of any change of email address or phone number.


    Program Specifics
    1. Length of program – 4 years
    2. A minimum of 6000 hours of on-the-job training
    3. A minimum of 640 hours of classroom related training
    4. Starting pay – 55% of journeyman wage
    5. We currently have a partnership with Northwest State Community College that will allow apprentices to receive college credits towards a two-year associate degree.

    All fringes, except pension, as stated above are paid the same as for Installer Technician Journeymen. The fringes based on percentages will be calculated off of the apprentice wage rate and the per hour contributions will remain the same.
