Between 1,500 and 2,000 Local 8 journeymen attend TEJATC continuing education classes each year. The trade evolves with every code cycle, and our upgrade program keeps you at the leading edge.
Who This Program Serves
A Pathway For Every Classification
Each group has its own enrollment process and available coursework. Most sign-up is handled through TradeSchool.
Journeyman Inside Wiremen (JED)
Journeyman Education and Development (JED) courses are the core of the upgrade program, from the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E to motor controls, fire alarm systems and instrumentation.
CW / CE Workers
Construction Worker and Construction Electrician classifications have access to advancement courses that support skill development through the classification system. JED courses are filled first-come, first-served.
Apprentices
Select approved JED courses are available to current TEJATC apprentices as supplemental continuing education. Enrollment is through TradeSchool.
IBEW Travelers
Travelers from another IBEW Local working in the jurisdiction are welcome to register online. If you’ve taken classes here before, your account is already active.

JED courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and capacity is limited, so register early. If a course is full, call the office to be notified if a spot opens.

Advancement exams are held the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. Register by the previous Wednesday. Grant scale: CW — $60 per 4 hours · CE — $80 per 4 hours.

Blended Learning (LMS)
The Learning Management System (LMS) is the online platform where apprentices access digital coursework, complete assigned modules and track progress through the program curriculum delivered by the electrical training ALLIANCE.
Northwest State Community College
All apprentices register with NWSCC to earn college credit toward an associate degree in Applied Science at no additional cost.
OSHA 10-Hour Online
A required component of the apprenticeship through CareerSafe. Learn to recognize, avoid and report jobsite hazards and earn your official OSHA 10 wallet card.
Safety Courseware
Supplemental safety training from NECA, Werner and the American Ladder Institute.
