Choose Your Program
Three Registered Apprenticeships
All three are registered with the U.S. Department of Labor and jointly sponsored by IBEW Local 8 and NECA. You’re encouraged to apply to every program you qualify for.
5-Year Program
Inside/Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship
The most technically comprehensive credential in the electrical trade. Inside wiremen build and maintain the complete electrical systems inside commercial buildings, industrial facilities, hospitals, schools, data centers and more.
What you need to apply
- At least 17 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- One credit of high school algebra
- Copy of birth certificate and official transcripts
- $20 application fee (check, money order, Mastercard or Visa; no cash)

3-Year Program
Residential Electrical Apprenticeship
Residential electricians wire the homes, apartments and housing developments where people live. If you take pride in craftsmanship and want hands-on work that makes a direct impact on people’s daily lives, the residential trade is a strong place to build a career.
What you need to apply
- At least 17 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- One credit of high school algebra
- Copy of birth certificate and official transcripts
- DD-214 if applicable (veterans seeking consideration for military training)
- $20 processing fee (check, money order, Mastercard or Visa; no cash)

4-Year Program
Telecommunications (VDV) Apprenticeship
Voice, Data and Video is the skilled trade behind the structured cabling, fiber optic networks, security systems and smart building technology that modern organizations depend on. At four years, it is one of the most thorough VDV training programs in the region, and one of the fastest-growing career paths in construction.
What you need to apply
- At least 17 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- One credit of high school algebra
- Copy of birth certificate and official transcripts
- DD-214 if applicable (veterans seeking consideration for military training)
- $20 processing fee (check, money order, Mastercard or Visa; no cash)
Applications are by appointment only.
Program Selection Policy
Once you are selected and accept placement into any TEJATC program, your name is removed from the selection lists for all other programs. This protects the continuity of each program and the investment TEJATC makes in every apprentice it trains.

What To Expect
After You Apply
Document Review
All required documents must be received within 60 days of your application date or the application becomes invalid.
Interview
Qualified applicants are ranked on scholastic achievement and work experience. Scores stay active two years.
Selection
Apprentices are selected in rank order from the active pool. Keep your contact information current with the office.
Medical Clearance
Selected applicants pass a physical exam and drug test. No apprentice may begin work without a medical release.
